Black Bear Diner - Danville: Your Go-To Spot for American Diner Classics

We always have a good experience here. We were served by Scott for the first time and he was the best! Super fast and accommodating, and made sure we were taken care of! We will definitely be coming back to visit our new friend Scott for weekend breakfast! :)

This is a great Black Bear diner location - quick service, affordable prices, and huge portions. The chicken fried steak is one of our FAVORITE things here and it was big enough for 2 people to share and be completely stuffed. We loved how crispy the hash browns came. We've also tried the chorizo breakfast burrito (sub hash browns for country potatoes) and that was good if you like American-style breakfast burritos. However- I would not recommend the waffle as I took one bite and didn't care for the rest...it was dense and doughy.

This is only the second time this year I've been able to dine out, so a friend suggested going to Black Bear for a belated celebration. We got there around noon and quickly greeted. We were lead to a booth in the east interior. The west side was busy but not full. We were given menus which includes a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. With some indecision, I asked our server Jessica what some customer favorites are and she mentioned for big appetites, The Grizz. Its loaded with just about every breakfast item you would want, too much for me so I asked about lunch. Jessica suggested the New Classic Cheese Burger Basket which I overlooked on the menu. That was perfect so I ordered a single patty and unseasoned fries. Meals arrived shortly after. Presentation in a basket is classic and simple. The burger was nicely wrapped in paper and the fries hot and crisp. There was lettuce, slice tomato, slice red onion, dill pickles with thousand island dressing. The brioche bun was soft and warm. The burger patty is just under 4 oz so if you are hungry, order the double. I cant say anything wrong with Black Bear. For a diner they offer something everybody would like, even desserts. My favorite is carrot cake. And the service is great and helpful just like Jessica. I hope to return and have their Prime Rib special one of these Fridays.

Great place for breakfast, but you should try their Friday dinner because of their Prime Rib special. I also love their clam chowder. It's definitely a must try. Service was impeccable, too

Just wanted to add pictures of the delicious Chocolate Cream Pie which was more divine. The Oreo Cookie Crust was a nice touch. My friend had a scoop of the Huckleberry Ice Cream I did not get a picture but she said it was so good.

I'm happy to say that out of town Black Bear Diners are just as good as my local one. I came here for breakfast, and the chicken and waffles was my option. I feel like the picture doesn't give it credit, but the chicken was delicious Service was good, as we had an attentive waiter. The ambiance was family friendly with kids and children checking out the merch area.
